What was the Glenn Springs Experience like in the 1840's?

Join us Thursday, September 7 at 7:00 pm at the Old Stone Church to learn more.

One perspective is found in the daily journal kept by a prominent Edgefield County planter/lawyer, Whitfield Brooks. Jim Farmer, editor and annotator of the diary, will speak about Brooks and his reasons for visiting the Springs, and will share some of his journal entries describing the place, its owner, and other hotel guests.

Jim Farmer is a professor emeritus of history at USC Aiken, and a specialist in the history of the American South and South Carolina. He taught for almost forty years, mostly in the USC system. Jim and his wife Judy moved to Spartanburg in 2016 and have enjoyed the city, their new set of friends, and being near their children and four grands.
